Q. How to set the device to its factory default settings.
A. Press and Hold the right key combination \
simultaneously until the device ask for a password.
- IP 301, 501, 550, 600, 601, 650, 670: 4, 6, 8 , *
- IP 320, 321, 330, 331, 335, 430, 450, 560, 7000: 1, 3, 5, 7
- IP 4000 and 6000: 6, 8 ,*
Q.How to set polycom device to static IP address.
A.
requirements:
- ip address
- subnet mask
- default gateway
- DNS server.
Steps:
- reboot the device then hit setup
- enter password < default is 456 >
- Highlight DHCP > hit select > disable it
- assign the values accordingly , dots (.) is either the star key(*) or the pound key (#)
- make sure all 4 requirements are entered.
Q. How to reset polycom to its local config?
A. resetting the phones to local configuration will remove all the SIP values on the phone.
Steps:
- Press menu ( the icon of a paper with a folded corner ) on the device.
- choose Settings.
- choose Advance
- "enter password" - default is 456
- Admin Settings
- Reset to defaults
- Reset local config,/li>
Q. How do I change the Icon display on my polycom device.
A. By setting up a tftp server to load your image to the device itself.
Q. How do I upload my contacts to the polycom device.
A. Most of the time this function is supported by your VOIP provider if it doest you have to do it manually by entering the information one by one or set up a tftp server, edit and upload the directory.xml file to the device.
Polycom ip phones On Screen Error Messages
Stuck on updating configuration.
Troubleshooting :
- reboot phone then hit setup
- setup asks for a password <default is : 456 >
- scroll down to server menu then hit select
- change server type to http
- change server address to your voip providers sip server address.
- set server user and server password to blank. ( or as provided )
- hit exit , exit, then save and reboot.
- unplug the power cable off the pone for at least 1 minute.
- observe if there are more error messages.
Error Message : 0x4020.
Troubleshooting :
- factory reset the device
- if its still the same. upgrade firm ware and BootRom.
- bypass your router and connect it directly to the modem.
- connect a computer to modem/router and see if it asks for a password. if it does contact ISP.
Cannot contact Boot Server. For ringcentral subscribers only.
Troubleshooting :
- reboot phone then hit setup
- setup asks for a password <default is : 456 or blank for unlocked phones.>
- if default passwords doesnt work it means the phones are locked on their providers.
- scroll down to server menu then hit select
- change server type to http
- change server address to agentconnect.ringcentral.com/provisioning/polycom/bootrom
- set server user and server password to blank.
- hit exit , exit, then save and reboot.
- if same error set the phones to static IP.
Network Link is Down.
check if the ethernet cable connected to the router is plugged into the WAN/LAN port of the polycom device instead of the pc port.
Else: Set the phone to static ip, then Ping the device, if ping is succesful open the 5060 ports on the router/modem.
URL Call is Disabled.

you may get this because your phone is "unable to register with the SIP server".
causes and resolutions:
- firewall is blocking the voip packets.
- Simply do a port forwarding or port triggering on your router.
- make sure you have inernet connection and it doesnt ask for a password.
- Open the "udp" ports assigned by your voip provider ( default is 5060 or a range of 5060 to 5100 ).
- disable sip info on your router. ( especially on D-Link routers ).
- update the firmware of your router and your polycom device.
